First Jaru fieldtrip

In June and July 2018 Joe Blythe and Lesley Stirling joined forces for the first of the project’s field trips in the east Kimberley region of WA. While in Kununurra, Joe gave a talk about the CIARA project at the Mirima Dawang Woorlab-gerring Language and Culture Centre. From there Joe undertook a three week trip to Yaruman (Ringer Soak) and Halls Creek, where he began recording and transcribing the Jaru conversational corpus. It was a fairly quiet time in in Yaruman over the school holidays as many people had left for the football in Balgo. Nevertheless, Joe made good progress on the corpus and had the opportunity to sample lots of bush tucker, which was delicious.
